Photo Tour to the Deserts of Iran
Available for individual booking
Iran is a true treasure for photographers. Fantastic deserts, otherworldly places, and a rich culture are constantly changing.
On this photography trip, we will primarily focus on the central deserts of Iran. The highlight will be crossing the Lut Desert. Few deserts are as diverse as this one. A vast sea of dunes marks the eastern border, with a region of medium-sized star dunes at the center. To the west, there is an almost impenetrable ridge of endless Yardangs. Photographic subjects are endless here.
Our experienced Iranian guides will provide us with regular insights into Iranian culture throughout the journey. Additionally, we will visit Yazd and Isfahan, two of the most beautiful cities in Persia.

Day 1
Flight to Tehran
Day 2
Today, we head straight to the desert. Our destination is the Dasht-e Kavir. This vast salt desert is known for its mosaic and stripe patterns, which are particularly impressive from a bird’s-eye view.
Day 3 & 4
The next two days will be spent crossing the foothills of the Dasht-e Kavir towards the south, constantly alternating between dunes and mountains.
Day 5
Today, we leave the desert for the first time and stop in Birjand. This city in the central highlands serves as our base for the Lut Desert. We replenish our water and food supplies for the upcoming days.
Day 6
We begin our adventure in the Lut Desert. Our 4×4 Toyota Land Cruisers are packed with all the necessary equipment for a multi-day desert crossing. The journey through the wilderness becomes increasingly exciting with every mile. Soon, we will reach the first mountains surrounded by small dunes. It’s time to set up our first camp.
Day 7-11
For the next five days, we will cross the Lut Desert in a horseshoe-shaped loop. Few deserts are as diverse as the Lut. A vast sea of dunes marks the eastern boundary. In the center, there is an area of medium-sized star dunes, and to the west, a nearly impassable ridge of endless Yardangs forms. These wind-eroded mounds are what make the Lut Desert truly special. Photographic opportunities are endless here.
Day 12
Today our desert adventure ends. We leave the Kaluts heading south and take a road through the «Colorful Mountains.» The rock layers in this region shine in various colors. Our destination for the day is the city of Bam in Kerman Province. Bam’s famous citadel was almost completely destroyed by a major earthquake in 2003. However, the UNESCO World Heritage site has since been renovated and now shines with its old grandeur.
Day 13
We take a long drive (about 8 hours) to Yazd. Yazd is one of the oldest cities in Iran and the capital of the province of the same name. Its old town was named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2017. We will stay in a 5-star hotel, and for the first time since our desert adventure, we’ll indulge in a bit of luxury.
Day 14
The entire day is dedicated to sightseeing in the city. A special highlight will be the Amir Chakmak Mosque.
Day 15
Today, we continue our journey to Isfahan. The city, located in central Iran, is also known as the «Pearl of the Orient.» It flourished in the 16th and 17th centuries under the Safavid dynasty. Many of its magnificent buildings have been preserved to this day.
Day 16
The entire day is dedicated to sightseeing in the city.
Day 17
