Slowenien Fotoreise, majestätischen Julischen Alpen - Rolf Gemperle Naturfotografie

Autumn colors in the Julian Alps
Available for individual booking

Experience a green part of Europe with your camera. Slovenia, half the size of Switzerland, fascinates with its breathtaking landscape.

A treasure of natural beauty, this gem truly has it all. From the majestic Julian Alps, to picturesque lakes, breathtaking waterfalls, huge caves, deep wild gorges and canyons full of emerald green streams and rivers, to the Adriatic coast.

Not to mention the churches that stand on picturesque hills, as if the architects had planted them there to photograph. And yet this country still manages to stay a little off the radar of mass tourism.

I invite you to join my photography trip to Slovenia. Together we will discover the most exciting photo spots and let ourselves be inspired by the hospitality and gastronomy of Slovenia.

Day 1

We begin our journey with meeting at 10 AM at the Ljubljana airport or at a mutually agreed location. After picking up the rental bus, we’ll be on our way. Our destination for the day is the small town of Bovec, where we will stay at the beautiful Mangart Hotel for the next two days. On the way to the Julian Alps, there’s already plenty to see, and the first photographic opportunities await us.

Day 2 & 3

We’ll spend the next two days in the heart of the Julian Alps. Bovec lies on the edge of the Triglav National Park. The emerald-green Soca River has carved its way deeply into the rocks here. Breathtaking views into the depths open up again and again. The water flowing through narrow gorges over the millennia has created bizarre rock formations, providing a playground for us photographers. Not only does the Soca offer a wide range of photographic opportunities, but the mountain world of the Julian Alps with its forests, lakes, and waterfalls also presents countless chances for beautiful shots. On the third day, we change our accommodation. From Bovec, we head to Bled. The program includes an evening photoshoot at the beautiful Lake Bled. The lake is famous for its picturesque island with a pilgrimage church, offering a stunning backdrop for photography.

Day 4 & 5

Our hotel is wonderfully located right by the Lake Bled. In just a few minutes on foot, we will be at our sunrise location. With a bit of luck, we’ll witness a light fog drifting over the lake, allowing us to capture a mystical atmosphere. The region at the eastern foothills of the Julian Alps still holds more treasures. A sunset at Lake Bohinj is on the agenda, as well as a visit to the Vintgar Gorge. For another sunrise, we’ll drive to the St. Thomas Church. If we’re lucky and the fog drifts through the valley, it will appear as if the church is floating on a sea of misty waves.

Day 6

Today, we enjoy the sunrise atmosphere at the Lake Bled one last time. After breakfast, we head out for a photographic stroll through Ljubljana. The capital of Slovenia shines with its charming old town, featuring many Art Nouveau palaces and Baroque architecture. With many great photos in hand, we’ll take our flight back to Switzerland that evening.

Looking forward to an incredible journey!
