“King of the skies” – White-tailed Eagles in Poland
October 26th to 31st, 2025
Poland has the eagle as its heraldic animal. This is no coincidence, as the current population of white-tailed eagles in Poland is one of the largest in all of Europe. The animals feel particularly at home in the lake areas and river landscapes of central Poland.
For our workshop, we will be based in the small town of Kutno, approximately two hours west of Warsaw. From here, we will embark on our daily observation tours. We will wait for the arrival of the eagles from observation huts set up in a forest clearing near the Vistula River, Poland’s longest river.
I have been focusing on eagle photography for years and will teach you the key aspects of capturing a great eagle shot. In a theoretical session, I will prepare you for the practical work in the observation huts. Enjoy four intense days with the «Kings of the Sky» and let my enthusiasm for these majestic birds inspire you!

Day 1
We will meet at Zurich Airport in the morning. We take a direct flight of around two hours from Zurich to Warsaw. Our local partner is already waiting for us at the airport. We then take the minibus to our accommodation, which is about two hours› drive to the west. After checking into the hotel in the early afternoon, there is time for a theoretical introduction. We end the day with a common dinner.
Day 2-5
On the following days, we will get up early. We need to be in our observation huts before dawn. As early as twilight, the eagle’s cry can be heard. On the trees surrounding the clearing, the first silhouettes of the majestic birds become visible. Early raven colonies check the area around our observation huts. At this point, it’s important to be especially careful and limit movements with the camera and lens to a minimum.
Once the first eagles land, photography can begin. The light quickly improves, and the ISO values stabilize at a usable level. After initial skepticism from the eagles, the first fights over food soon break out. In addition to the graceful landing maneuvers, the fights between the eagles provide spectacular photographic opportunities.
We leave the hides again in the late afternoon and there is usually some time left before dinner to save the day’s pictures and make the first sightings.
Day 6
On the last day, we will head to Warsaw Airport early in the morning. Our flight will bring us back to Zurich, where we will arrive around midday.
Looking forward to an exciting journey!
